If you are anything like yours truly, then you also have this crazy idea of photography. I always picture a ton of different lenses, extra bags just to carry cameras, EVEN MORE cords for me to keep up with, and constantly losing memory cards. Back in the myspace days this was my life, and I do not want to go into that realm again.
Photography is a huge part of blogging, not as important as being yourself, but important none the less. Companies are rolling out brand new cameras almost everyday, but you have one of the best tools right in your hands! Here are some tips to help you get the best photos that you can!
I don’t think there is any way for me to explain how important this is. Good lighting is easy to obtain, but it is hard to edit in and keep the integrity of the original photo. Trust me on this one. Mother nature gave us the best light source, so use natural light whenever it is available. Your phone is not a DSLR, so you need to focus on getting the best possible quality.Natural light is your new best friend!
You have heard it before. Location, location, location! It does not matter if you are taking an outfit post or just a flat lay, find a good background. There are a ton of different contact papers available so that you can create your own background, especially for marble. That is the way to go. Personally, I just love a plain white background, and I find that it really helps me when it comes to the editing part. It also makes the item pop instead of a crazy background. For outfits, I have this one incredible ivy covered wall in my town, and that is the number one spot for me. My hair and skin really pop against the green. Find something that suits you!
Before blogging I never edited photos. Yeah, scary! I just could not be bothered with going back and enhancing my photos (Which is most likely why my photo skills were crap!). One time when I was at Walt Disney World with my friend Ricky, and he was editing an Instagram post of the Haunted Mansion. It made a huge difference in how pleasing to the eye it was. Personally, I use Aviary to edit all of my photos, and I am going to do a whole post about editing with my phone. The biggest tip I can give is just to experiment. You also need to understand what each function does. I may throw that into the editing post as well!
Hopefully my little tips helped you out some! It really just depends on how you like your photos, so do not be afraid to experiment. Try different angles, different subjects, different everything! Make your photos your style! Do you have any tips for phone photography? Put them down below!
